By day the jungle is vibrant; by night it's a different world. With no city lights, the reserve fills with sounds, glows, and movements that don't exist in daylight. It's unlike anything else we offer, and one of the most memorable.
We give you warm-light headlamps so you can walk hands-free. With them, your guide teaches you to find the glow of the wildlife's eyes in the dark, without disturbing it, and to tell apart each sound of the night.
You'll see frogs and amphibians, insects that glow like tiny lights, and maybe the tracks of an animal that only comes out at night. All with our guides and medical insurance included. We finish in time for you to have dinner in Papantla.
A real look at what the darkness hides within the reserve.
* Sightings occur on our preserved routes. We strictly respect the freedom of wild fauna.
The night, after El Tajín
We're 15 minutes from the archaeological site. It's the perfect close to a day in Totonacapan: culture by day, jungle by night, and back to your hotel in Papantla.
On some stretches we ask for quiet: that's when you see and hear the most. Small groups from 2 people. Recommended for children over 8 accompanied by an adult.
What to bring
Comfortable long pants, long sleeves in dark tones, and closed footwear with good traction. Avoid perfumes or strong-smelling lotions.
Pick your date. Night tours are very limited to avoid stressing the ecosystem, so please book in advance.
