This is the tour most people start with, and the one we recommend if it's your first time or you're bringing kids. We walk in small groups, unhurried, along 1.5 km of comfortable trail, so the jungle feels close rather than like a physical feat.
You'll walk beneath the canopy of century-old ceiba trees, the sacred trees that guard the sanctuary. Along the way you'll meet wild vanilla and see up close the work of the native bees, the pollinators that make all this biodiversity possible.
Your guide teaches you to spot animal tracks, recognize the call of the Papán Real, and read the signs of a jungle regenerating itself. You leave understanding the place, not just having seen it.
Coming from El Tajín?
We're 15 minutes from the archaeological site. You can add traditional Totonac food by advance reservation and make your visit the full day plan.
To protect wildlife, access to the core area is organized in small groups by time slot. Departures from 2 people.
What to bring
Lightweight long pants, breathable clothing, and closed-toe footwear (hiking boots or trail shoes with good traction). Avoid sandals and strong perfumes to make wildlife sightings easier.
Pick your date and time. Spots are limited per day to preserve the ecosystem.
